Aviation Warnings Issued As Giant Volcano Erupts Sending Massive 26,000 Feet Tower of Ash Into the Sky

More chaos in the skies took place today after massive plumes of smoke were seen erupting from Mouth Lewotobi in Indonesia.

 

According to reports from local media outlets, the flights were mostly international ones that were heading to the resort of Bali.

The giant volcano in the archipelago nation’s east started to erupt all of a sudden and that led to dark ash coming out 8km into the sky.

The Mount Lewotobi Laki erupted for nearly 11 minutes and nine seconds during the later hours of Thursday.

This raised the volcano’s alert status to the highest level.

Seven other flights including those going out to Thailand, Australia, and Singapore were a part of this list and hence were said to experience a serious amount of delay.

The local airport that’s closest to this volcano is yet to be impacted by the ash as per the transport ministry but it is certainly an alarming situation for obvious reasons.

The ash column was seen grey to black with thick intensity. So far, no reports of any damages taking place were made to nearby villages but the agency did warn residents of the potential of a mudflow taking place due to serious rainfall.
