Another coronavirus is feared to be so powerful that it can spread through humans.
The incident was discovered in China at the same infamous lab called the Wuhan Institute of Virology. They detected the latest strain living inside the bats.
HKU5-CoV-2 is very similar to the pandemic virus and is now sparking serious fears that history could end up repeating itself after nearly two years since it was declared over.
The latest virus is also similarly related to MERS, and it’s a deadlier virus that kills nearly a third of the population that it infects.
Top virologist Shi Zhengli who is famous as Batwoman for her efforts on coronaviruses led this discovery and published the findings in a leading scientific journal.
Tests showed how this virus strain infiltrated human cells in the same manner that the SARS-CoV-2 did.
They shared the discovery in the journal Cell where China-funded researchers admitted that it had a strong capability of spilling over to humans. Many hope that this cross-transmission does not take place from animals to humans.
For now, the latest strain belongs to the merbecovirus family of pathogens and was seen in minks and pangolins which is the intermediate between bats and humans.
